Responsibilities
- Manage month-end and year-end closing processes including journal entries, reconciliations, and financial reporting
- Prepare and analyze financial statements for Chicago-based clients ensuring GAAP compliance
- Oversee accounts payable/receivable processes and optimize cash flow management
- Conduct internal audits and implement process improvements for financial systems
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams on budgeting, forecasting, and strategic planning
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations for Illinois businesses
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA/MBA preferred)
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience with public or private sector firms
- Proficiency in QuickBooks, NetSuite, or similar accounting software
- Advanced Excel skills with pivot tables, VLOOKUP, and financial modeling
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, IRS regulations, and Illinois state tax requirements
- Proven ability to manage multiple deadlines and prioritize competing tasks
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for client reporting
