Responsibilities
- Manage full-cycle accounting operations including accounts payable/receivable, general ledger maintenance, and bank reconciliations
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements with detailed variance analysis
- Oversee payroll processing and ensure compliance with federal/state regulations
- Conduct internal audits and implement process improvements for financial controls
- Assist with tax preparation and reporting requirements (federal, state, local)
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support budgeting and forecasting initiatives
- Maintain accurate financial records in QuickBooks Enterprise and MS Excel
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required; CPA preferred
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience in public/private sector
- Advanced proficiency in QuickBooks, MS Excel (including pivot tables/VLOOKUP)
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and tax regulations (Virginia-specific experience a plus)
- Proven ability to meet tight deadlines while maintaining accuracy standards
- Excellent analytical skills with attention to detail and problem-solving abilities
- Effective communication skills for presenting financial information to non-finance stakeholders
