Responsibilities
- Financial Reporting: Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements to ensure accuracy and compliance with accounting standards.
- Accounts Management: Oversee general ledger activities, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and bank reconciliations.
- Process Improvement: Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and reduce operational costs within the finance department.
- Compliance: Ensure the organization complies with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation, enforcing adherence, and advising management on needed actions.
- Budgeting & Forecasting: Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and provide variance analysis to support strategic decision-making.
- Audit Support: Serve as the primary point of contact for external auditors during annual audits and coordinate the preparation of necessary documentation.
- Team Leadership: Mentor junior accounting staff and provide training on accounting software and best practices.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required; Master’s degree (CPA preferred) is a plus.
- Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of progressive experience in general accounting or financial reporting.
- Software Proficiency: Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (VLOOKUP, Pivot Tables) and experience with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite, or SAP).
- Knowledge: Deep understanding of GAAP principles and financial regulations.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to present complex financial data to non-financial stakeholders.
- Attention to Detail: Exceptional organizational skills with a keen eye for detail and accuracy in data entry and analysis.
- Problem Solving: Strong analytical skills with the ability to troubleshoot financial discrepancies and propose solutions.
