Responsibilities
- Manage full-cycle accounting operations including accounts payable/receivable, general ledger maintenance, and month-end close procedures
- Prepare and analyze financial statements, balance sheets, and income reports with meticulous attention to detail
- Oversee tax compliance, including sales tax filings and income tax preparation for diverse business entities
- Implement and improve internal controls to ensure financial accuracy and regulatory compliance
- Lead financial audits and provide clear documentation to external auditors and stakeholders
- Mentor junior accounting staff and optimize financial reporting workflows
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support budgeting and forecasting initiatives
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance (CPA/MBA preferred)
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience with public or private sector exposure
- Expert proficiency in QuickBooks, Excel, and accounting software systems
- Deep knowledge of GAAP, IRS regulations, and New Mexico tax codes
- Proven ability to manage complex financial reporting and multi-state compliance
- Exceptional analytical skills with strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Excellent communication skills for presenting financial insights to non-finance stakeholders
- Experience with ERP systems (SAP/Oracle) and financial modeling tools
