Responsibilities
- Process weekly and bi-weekly payroll for all employees in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
- Review and verify time cards, timesheets, and leave requests for accuracy.
- Prepare and distribute payroll registers, statements, and tax forms (W-2s, 1099s).
- Handle payroll deductions, garnishments, and benefit enrollments accurately.
- Assist with month-end close processes related to payroll accounting and tax liabilities.
- Respond to employee inquiries regarding pay stubs, deductions, and tax information.
- Ensure strict confidentiality of sensitive employee financial data.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; Associate's degree in Accounting or Finance preferred.
- Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in payroll processing or a related finance role.
- Proficiency with payroll software (e.g., ADP, Paychex, or similar) is required.
- Strong working knowledge of FLSA laws and Washington, DC tax regulations.
- Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, vlookup) for data analysis and reporting.
- Exceptional attention to detail and the ability to detect errors before processing.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
