We are looking for a detail-oriented and experienced Part-Time Payroll Specialist to join our growing finance team in San Francisco. In this role, you will ensure the timely and accurate processing of payroll for our diverse workforce, while navigating complex state and federal regulations. Responsibilities
- Process weekly and bi-weekly payroll for all employees, ensuring accuracy and compliance with federal, state, and local (CA) labor laws.
- Calculate and verify accurate withholdings, deductions, and payroll taxes for each pay period.
- Respond promptly and professionally to employee inquiries regarding pay stubs, W-2s, tax forms, and time-off balances.
- Maintain and update payroll records in ADP and internal Excel databases, ensuring data integrity.
- Prepare and file quarterly and annual payroll tax reports (e.g., 941, State Debit Authorizations) with the IRS and Franchise Tax Board.
- Collaborate with the HR department to verify new hire data, address changes, and manage terminations.
- Assist with year-end payroll processes, including the preparation of W-2s and 1099s.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years of proven experience in payroll processing, preferably in a part-time or accounting support capacity.
- Proficient in payroll software such as ADP Workforce Now, Paychex, or QuickBooks Payroll.
- Strong working knowledge of FLSA regulations and California-specific labor laws.
- Advanced Excel skills, including VLOOKUP, Pivot Tables, and data formatting.
- Exceptional attention to detail with a high degree of accuracy in data entry.
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality regarding sensitive employee and financial information.
- Associate’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Human Resources is preferred.
